MSNBC has officially promoted Christopher Licht to executive producer of "Scarborough Country," its 9 p.m. program. Licht has been filling in in this role since August.
Oxygen has upped Michelle Niven to senior vice president of affiliate ad sales, where she will head up the network's affiliate advertising sales team while spearheading strategic sales collaborations with affiliates. In addition, Niven will work with the marketing team to create promotional campaigns and presentations to support local ad sales efforts.
The Fader has hired Dana Krozek as account manager for the magazine, thefader.com, the tripwire.com, and other multi-media initiatives. Krozek, who had been an account coordinator for Jeep Communications, will now over see revenue generation and the development of new business sales.
AARP Publications has named Linda Tse Carreria associate director of interactive marketing at AARP The Magazine, AARP Bulletin and AARP Segunda Juventud. Carreria, who has been with AARP Publications for more than 12 years, will now head up the direction of added-value online strategies and marketing solutions for the magazine's advertisers.
Wicks Business Information LLC has hired Brion D. Palmer as publisher for InsideCounsel magazine, reporting to group publisher and vice president John Whelan. Palmer will now be charged with heading up the publication's growth strategy while overseeing strategic innovations to the product. Previously, Palmer has been vice president and group publisher of the hospitality division at RBI and most recently worked as publisher of Interiors magazine at Stamats.
Nextar Broadcasting Group has made Louis J. Abitabilo vice president and general manager of WBRE/Wilkes-Barre-Scranton, its NBC affiliate. Reporting to SVP Timothy Busch, Abitabilo will head up shared services and sales agreements for its CBS affiliate, WYOU.
Lopez Negrete Communications has added Frederico Traeger as its creative director, where he will be working closely with other creative directors Luis Gonzalex, Jaime Belden and Luis Cuenca. Traeger had previously been vice president and executive creative director at The Bravo Group and Young & Rubicam in New York.

Fred Khalilian, the owner of Club Paris in Orlando, has announced that the club will no longer be associated with its original namesake, Paris Hilton. Hilton came six hours late to the club's opening two years ago, and according to Khalilian has continuously failed to keep to her scheduled appearances at the club. Her publicist says the heiress has behaved appropriately and had not been notified of the firing. The name of the club will not be changed, nor will the name of the similarly labeled club Khalilian opened in Jacksonville last year, but will now pay tribute to the French city instead of the "Simple Life" starlet.
Former CEO Garry Betty, who took EarthLink Corporation from a start-up to a company that rivaled telecommunications greats like AOL, died on Tuesday of adrenal cortical cancer at the age of 49. After working briefly at Procter & Gamble and I.B.M., Betty worked for Hayes Microcomputer Associates until EarthLink founder Sky Dayton convinced him in 1996 to become chief executive officer. He took a leave of absence due to his rapid decline in health, leaving EarthLink in the hands of interim CEO Mike Lunsford.
