Street scenery: Ads on hoods of taxis Hard to miss as fares line up to jump in Oct 27, 2006
Here's a new place: the hood. Nashville’s AutoHood Media, a subsidiary of X-Treme Sports Group, has developed a way to get ads on the hoods of cars, which seems a perfect way to grab the attention of those waiting and getting into cabs. Called the AutoGlove, the product was originally designed to simply protect the hoods of high-end cars, but it now serves another purpose—advertising on cabs and company cars. “Taxi hoods are an available area of real estate that isn’t presently being used unless you wrap the entire car,” says John Griffin, CEO of X-Treme Sports Group. Pep Boys Auto will use the AutoGlove on its vehicles come February, and Griffin says his company is in talks with several of the country’s largest taxicab companies.
