A catalog of Donald Trump’s many Twitter insults
October 24, 2016
Whatever your thoughts on Donald Trump, we can all agree on this: No one insults something on Twitter in quite the same way that the Republican presidential candidate does.
His attacks range from bold to mocking to outraged. There’s nothing too big (an opposing candidate) or too small (an unfortunate podium) for him to direct his ire toward.
It’s almost become a cottage industry for Trump, and his followers love it, with his most insulting posts getting hundreds of thousands of likes and retweets.
The New York Times noted all this, and it set out to catalog everything the real estate mogul has insulted during his 16-month campaign for the White House.
It noted every person, every issue, every inanimate object.
It tallied a total of 281 things that Trump has insulted in that time.
And it printed them for the world to see in Monday’s edition of the paper. The list takes up two full pages, and it breaks down not just who or what was insulted, but what exactly he said, such as calling “Sunday Today” host Willie Geist “uncomfortable looking” and former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates “a total disaster.”
Hillary Clinton, of course, warrants a few columns.
It’s an amusing and creative read, although it probably won’t do much to lift our national mood amidst this downbeat election.
