It's been several years since Fox could claim to have the most-buzzed-about new show on television, dating back to "House" and "24," but this may have cemented it.

After posting back-to-back season highs and releasing a second bestselling album in recent weeks, the new Wednesday comedy "Glee" got another buzz-builder this morning, becoming the most-nominated TV program for next month's Golden Globe Awards.

"Glee" picked up four nominations, including three acting nods and one for best comedy, leading Fox to six total nominations, tied for No. 2 overall with Showtime behind HBO.

"Glee" leads Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison were both nominated for their acting roles in the show about a high school music club, while Jane Lynch, who plays acerbic cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, was recognized in the best supporting actress category.

"Glee" aired its first-half finale last week, averaging a 3.6 adults 18-49 rating and matching a season high set the previous week. The show will be on hiatus until April, but it will still have a presence in music stores and in the iTunes shop, where its two cast albums have produced numerous top-10 hits.

Perhaps most notably, "Glee" even managed to top NBC's "30 Rock" in nominations. "Rock" has been a critics darling since its premiere four years ago, winning the past three best comedy Emmys as well as a parcel of acting awards.

"Rock" still received three nods, tying with seven other programs for second place behind "Glee."

HBO led all networks with 17 nominations. NBC was fourth with five and CBS fifth with four. ABC had three, including one for best comedy for the new show "Modern Family."

The Globes will air Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. on NBC with host Ricky Gervais.
