With its 10th straight weekly win, Fox moved into sole possession of first place this summer and likely sewed up an insurmountable lead with roughly two and a half weeks before the regular TV season begins.
Fox actually tied with NBC and CBS for first place last week, the week ended Aug. 29, with each network averaging a 1.9 adults 18-49 Nielsen rating and a 6 share.
That was good enough to boost Fox a tenth of a point to a 2.0/6 for the summer, breaking a weeks-long tie with ABC.
ABC's summer-to-date average, dating back to May 31, actually slipped by a tenth, to 1.8/6.
NBC remained in third among the Big Four with a 1.6/5, with CBS in fourth place at 1.4/5.
Barring any unforeseen surges by ABC, which seems unlikely since its highest-rated show, "The Bachelorette," is done for the summer, Fox will win its fifth summer in the past six years.
The network has the summer's No. 1 new show in "MasterChef" as well as two of the summer's top programs overall, "Hell's Kitchen" and reruns of "Family Guy."
And Sunday night's NFL preseason game also helped, averaging a 3.7 adults 18-49 rating, behind only the competing Emmy awards for the week.
