FRIDAY
 
Best bet on broadcast
: Fox, “The Return of Jezebel James,” 8 p.m. Parker Posey stars in the new Fox sitcom from “Gilmore Girls” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, though if the network had better hopes for it, it wouldn’t be premiering on little-watched Friday night.
 
Best bet on cable: Nickelodeon, “H20,” 9 p.m. Series premiere. A trio of Australian teenage girls become mermaids whenever they are touched by water.   
 
Top movie: Encore, “The Illusionist,” 8 p.m. Edward Norton stars as a magician at the turn of the last century.  
 
SATURDAY
 
Best bet on broadcast
: NBC, “Saturday Night Live,” 11:30 p.m. The venerable NBC sketch show ends its first back-to-back-to-back-to-back fresh episode run since the 1970s with host Jonah Hill.  
 
Best bet on cable: FSN, “Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship,” 7 p.m. The men aren’t the only ones playing on championship weekend.
 
Top sporting event: ESPN, “Big East Tournament Final,” 9 p.m. Won last year by Georgetown.

SUNDAY
 
Best bet on broadcast
: CBS, “NCAA Basketball Championship Selection Show,” 6 p.m. Let the complaining over who got snubbed begin.   

Best bet on cable: HGTV, “Myles of Style,” 10 p.m. Series premiere. “Design Star” winner Kim Myles gets her own show.      
 
Top sporting event: ESPN, “ACC Tournament Championship,” 1 p.m. After record viewership for last week’s Duke-North Carolina game, ESPN is hoping those two squads make it again.
