ABC '20/20' special looks at Oscar nominees on their way up

ABC's 'Before They Were Famous': George Clooney,
Sandra Bullock, Mo'Nique and Jeff Bridges
Because it would be foolish to miss any chance to hype Sunday night's Oscar ceremony, tonight ABC brings us a glimpse into the lives of Oscar nominees before anyone besides their moms cared about their accomplishments.

"Good Morning America's" Robin Roberts hosts "Before They Were Famous," a special Oscars edition of "20/20," airing tonight at 10 p.m.

George Clooney, Viola Davis, Brad Pitt, Octavia Spencer and Gary Oldman are among the stars featured, several of whom actually spoke to Roberts. She also talked to some of their moms.

The special also includes interviews with other (mostly non-Oscar-nominated) stars who knew the actors way back then, which promises to be the juiciest part of the special.

Undoubtedly Pitt, for example, would prefer to forget that he got his start on "Growing Pains," but former co-star Tracey Gold happily dishes about those early days.

"Famous" will probably draw decent numbers, both because people love the Oscars and because it has the good fortune of airing after ABC's highly rated comedy lineup.

Usual timeslot occupant "Revenge" has done well in this timeslot this season, averaging a 2.6 in adults 18-49.

If "Famous" can manage even a 2.1, beating NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" in the hour, ABC will be happy.
