: NBC, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 11:35 p.m. Remember erstwhile Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura? He makes an appearance tonight. 

Best bet on cable: Discovery Channel, “Man vs. Wild,” 9 p.m. The first new episode this year features Bear Grylls trekking through Africa.    
 
Top sporting event: ESPN, “NBA Playoffs: Boston Celtics at Atlanta Hawks,” 8 p.m. The Celtics look to close out their first-round series, up 3-2 on the Hawks, who have won two of the last three games.
 
SATURDAY
 
Best bet on broadcast
: NBC, “Kentucky Derby,” 5 p.m. Big Brown is the favorite to win, but Eight Belles will try to become the first filly victor since 1988.
 
Best bet on cable: Hallmark Channel, “The Shell Seekers,” 9 p.m. Vanessa Redgrave stars in the adaptation of the Rosamunde Pilcher novel.
 
Top sporting event: Fox, “Dan Lowry 400,” 7 p.m. Dan Lowry, a NASCAR fan from New Waterford, Ohio, won a promotion to name this Richmond race after himself. 

SUNDAY
 
Best bet on broadcast
: Fox, “Family Guy,” 9 p.m. Season finale. Just days before Fox is expected to add a “Guy” spinoff to its schedule, the Griffins end their sixth season.  

Best bet on cable: Disney Channel, “Hannah Montana,” 8 p.m. The hit show’s first new episode since the Miley Cyrus-Vanity Fair photo scandal broke.
 
Top sporting event: ESPN, “Sunday Night Baseball,” 8 p.m. The top two teams in the NL Central, the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals, square off.
