Best bet on broadcast
: NBC, “Dateline NBC,” 9 p.m. Reporting on a man who disappeared right before being charged with his wife’s murder.
 
Best bet on cable: Sci Fi, “Stargate Atlantis,” 10 p.m. Season finale. Season four ends with Shepard returning to Atlantis, but there’s a surprise in store for him.   
 
Top movie: Showtime, “Babel,” 8 p.m. The 2006 Brad Pitt-Cate Blanchett movie weaves together stories on three continents.  
 
SATURDAY
 
Best bet on broadcast
: The CW, “The Spectacular Spider-Man,” 10 a.m. The web crawler joins the CW’s Saturday morning lineup.
 
Best bet on cable: TLC, “Flip That Restaurant,” 8 p.m. Series premiere. Coming on the heels of the huge third-season premiere of “Big People, Little World,” TLC hopes for another winner with this new self-explanatory series.
 
Top sporting event: ESPN, “North Carolina at Duke,” 9 p.m. The top-ranked Tar Heels look to avenge a loss to the Blue Devils last month in this heated rivalry. 

SUNDAY
 
Best bet on broadcast
: Fox, “The Simpsons,” 8 p.m. Marge calls in professional help after Homer cheats on his diet.   

Best bet on cable: HBO, “The Wire,” 9 p.m. Series finale. The social commentary series airs its final episode, which won’t draw huge numbers but will get a lot of coverage from mourning TV critics.     
 
Top sporting event: ABC, “NBA: San Antonio Spurs vs. Phoenix Suns,” 3:30 p.m. A preview of the postseason? Shaquille O’Neal’s new team faces the defending NBA champs.
