The top draws on broadcast and cable and in sports

FRIDAY

Best bet on broadcast: CBS, “Numb3rs,” 10 p.m. Yet another CBS show back from strike hiatus, with the “Numb3rs” crew going on a stakeout.

Best bet on cable: Sci Fi, “Battlestar Galactica,” 10 p.m. Season premiere. The fourth (and last) season begins with a suspicious return for Starbuck.

Top movie: Spike, “The Phantom Menace,” 8 p.m. The male-skewing network begins a two-weekend “Star Wars” blitz with the premiere of the first in the second trilogy. The rest will follow this weekend and next.

SATURDAY

Best bet on broadcast: ABC, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” 8 p.m. Yet another rebroadcast for the four or five people who haven’t yet seen the movie.

Best bet on cable: Showtime, “Casino Royale,” 9:03 p.m. The well-reviewed debut of Daniel Craig in the James Bond role.

Top sporting event: CBS, “Men’s NCAA Tournament: Final Four,” 6 p.m. See four No. 1 seeds (UNC, Memphis, Kansas, UCLA) battle it out for the two spots in Monday’s final, the first time all four top-seeded teams have made the Final Four.

SUNDAY

Best bet on broadcast: NBC, “Monk,” 8 p.m. Thus far, cable programming imported for broadcast during the strike hasn’t fared too well (see “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” and “Dexter”). This USA show pulls better viewership than the others during its cable episodes, but whether it can hold up against broadcast competition remains to be seen.

Best bet on cable: ESPN, “Women’s NCAA Tournament: Final Four,” 8 p.m. Live from Tampa, it’s the women’s Final Four, with LSU, Stanford, UConn and defending champ Tennessee vying for the two final spots.

Top sporting event: TBS, “Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays,” 1 p.m. TBS debuts its new Sunday afternoon baseball package.
