THURSDAY

Best bet on broadcast: CBS, “Big Brother,” 8 p.m. An elimination episode should be the top-rated program on a night filled with mainly repeats.

Best bet on cable: MTV, “Jersey Shore,” 10 p.m. An anonymous letter leads to a fight among the women in the house.

Top sporting event: ESPN, “College Football,” 11 p.m. Lane Kiffin makes his USC coaching debut as the Trojans take on Hawaii.

FRIDAY

Best bet on broadcast: MyNetworkTV, “Friday Night Smackdown!,” 8 p.m. Kane and the Undertaker renew their rivalry.

Best bet on cable: Disney Channel, “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam,” 8 p.m. Will no doubt perform well, but will it reach "High School Musical"-like heights?

Top sporting event: ESPN, “College Football,” 8 p.m. Arizona takes on Toledo in an early-season nonconference matchup.

SATURDAY

Best bet on broadcast: Fox, “America's Most Wanted,” 9 p.m. A recap episode featuring cases from the past season.

Best bet on cable: National Geographic Channel, “America's Wild Spaces,” 9 p.m. A looks at wildlife living in Glacier National Park in Montana.

Top sporting event: ABC, “College Football,” 8 p.m. The Chick-fil-A kickoff game between LSU and North Carolina in Atlanta.

SUNDAY

Best bet on broadcast
: Fox, “Family Guy,” 9 p.m. Back-to-back repeats will no doubt be among the night's top programs on a rerun-filled evening.

Best bet on cable: TNT, “Leverage,” 9 p.m. The crew works on a caper that could lead them to baddie Damien Moreau.

Top sporting event: ESPN, “NASCAR Racing,” 7:30 p.m. The Emory Healthcare 500 from Atlanta Motor Speedway.
