A few last words
from Kate (or not)

America may well have tired of the Gosselin saga

Having nearly used up its supply of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" footage filmed before dad Jon Gosselin yanked his kids away from the cameras, TLC is filling tonight's usual "J&K" slot with a special entitled "Kate: Her Story," airing at 9 p.m.

Kate Gosselin, who separated from husband Jon in June, will talk to "Today" correspondent Natalie Morales about the developments of the past few months, presumably including her court battle over funds Jon removed from their joint bank account and TLC's lawsuit against Jon after he sent the network an order to stop shooting his kids.

This should serve as a good litmus test for how interested viewers still are in the once red-hot reality couple. Over the past few months, it seems as though the country has gone from "J&K" obsessed to "J&K" repulsed.

The Gosselins have appeared on every celebrity magazine and chatted up interviewers on a myriad of channels while also whining about their lost privacy. Jon has been linked to several women and was even accused of throwing "mantrums" by his current girlfriend, the daughter of Kate's plastic surgeon.

During that same time, viewership for "J&K" has plummeted from a peak of 10.6 million for the separation episode to 1.5 million for the most recent two episodes. Last week Life & Style even declared a Jon and Kate moratorium, banning the couple from the pages of its issue.

Plans for a "J&K" spinoff, "Kate Plus Eight," detailing Kate's new life as a single mom to the couple's eight children, have been put on hold as the various court battles play out. "J&K" will finish its run later this month, with enough footage already filmed for at least three more episodes.
