Kim Norris has been promoted to executive vice president of advanced advertising strategy and operations at Rainbow Advertising Sales Corp., which manages video-on-demand sales for Cablevision. Norris had been Cablevision’s senior vice president of business development and strategy.
Give him his MTV. Randy Sosin has joined MTV as senior vice president of talent development and programming, reporting to president of programming Tony DiSanto. Sosin was most recently managing partner at Gang of Fore.
Filming of Starz’ first-year hit “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” has been put on hold. The series has delayed production of the second season after star Andy Whitfield was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, although his doctors say the condition is very treatable. Season two of “Spartacus” will be shot in New Zealand.
Details, details: Patrick Connors has been named associate publisher at Details magazine, effective immediately. Connors was previously national advertising director at Glamour.
There’s a new designer at Life & Style. The magazine has named Peter Hemmel creative director, based in Englewood Cliffs, N.J. Hemmel’s most recent project was art director for the Holiday 2009 special issue of People.
“Two and a Half Men” star Charlie Sheen is set to return to the show next Tuesday after a stint in rehab that began on Feb. 23, Sheen’s publicist has confirmed to Radar Online. On Feb. 8 the actor was charged with third degree assault in connection with a Christmas Day incident with his wife. Just over two weeks later the actor, who has had past issues with drugs and alcohol, checked into rehab in what his spokesperson said was a preventative measure. His absence shut down production on "Men" for what will amount to three weeks. CBS has not said what impact the shutdown will have on the show's scheduling, though one of those weeks was a scheduled hiatus.
Good news for Meg Lavigne. She has been named vice president of sales and strategy at Litton News Source, which produces news content. Lavigne was previously vice president and general manager at WUPA-TV in Atlanta.
Ahh, the power of Facebook. Former “Golden Girls” star Betty White will appear on an upcoming episode of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” according to People, after nearly 500,000 people became fans of the Facebook page “Betty White to Host SNL (please?)!” White jumped back into the public eye with her appearance in a Snickers Super Bowl ad, and she also recently won a lifetime achievement awards at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
“Felicity’s” Keri Russell may be returning to TV. Russell is in talks to join Fox’s comedy pilot “Wilde Kingdom,” which stars Will Arnett. Her most recent TV appearance was a two-episode arc on “Scrubs” in 2007.
CBS has added Anna Chlumsky to its drama pilot “Quinn-Tuplets,” which follows the lives of grown-up quintuplets. Chlumsky is best known for starring opposite Macaulay Culkin in the 1991 movie “My Girl.”
Perhaps this will add fuel to the New York Times-Wall Street Journal rivalry. The Times has named Robert H. Christie senior vice president of corporate communications, effective March 22. Since 2003 Christie had been with Dow Jones & Co., which publishes the Journal.
Jeff Griffing is moving to Minneapolis. He has been named chief revenue officer at the Star Tribune, replacing former senior vice president of advertising David Walsh. Griffing, who is currently vice president of sales and publisher at Time Inc.’s Sports Illustrated group, will begin his new role on March 29.
Spanish-language newspaper Hoy has named Michael Roenna national sales manager, putting him in charge of national advertising for all of Tribune Hispanic’s properties. Roenna was previously national sales manager at impreMedia.
