Whack job: 'Cashmere Mafia' takes hit

In what can’t be considered a good sign for tonight’s premiere of NBC’s “Lipstick Jungle,” ABC’s “Cashmere Mafia” continued to struggle last night.

The new show about four career gals in New York City finished last in its timeslot and tied a series low, the night before the similarly themed “Jungle” airs its first episode.

“Cashmere” averaged a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating at 10 p.m., according to Nielsen overnights, a point behind second-place “Law & Order” on NBC, 0.2 behind Univision and tying its series low set two weeks ago.

The show lost one-third of its “Supernanny” lead-in and managed just 5.1 million total viewers in its first new episode in two weeks. Last week ABC aired a repeat of “Lost” in the timeslot.

“Cashmere” has received generally poor reviews and hasn’t seen week-to-week growth since its early January debut. That indicates little viewer interest in the "Sex and the City" type show, and it doesn’t speak well for “Jungle,” which airs tonight at 10 p.m.

Fox finished first for the night among viewers 18-49 with an 8.7 average overnight rating and a 22 share. CBS was second at 2.7/7, ABC third at 2.5/6, NBC fourth at 2.3/6, Univision fifth at 2.2/6 and CW sixth at 0.7/2.
 
At 8 p.m. Fox easily led with a 10.4 for “American Idol,” up from a 9.9 last week, followed by ABC with a 2.5 for “Wife Swap.” CBS was third with a 2.3 for repeats of “Two and a Half Men” and “Big Bang Theory,” Univision fourth with a 2.2 for “Al Diablo con los Guapos,” NBC fifth with a 1.9 for a “Deal or No Deal” rerun and CW sixth with a 0.8 for an “America’s Next Top Model” clip show.
 
Fox led again at 9 p.m. with a 7.1 for the third episode of “Moment of Truth,” down from a 7.8 the previous week but still crushing the competition. ABC held onto second place with a 3.0 for “Supernanny.” CBS was third with a 2.7 for a repeat of “Criminal Minds,” Univision and NBC tied for fourth at 2.2, Univision for its first hour of a U.S.-Mexico soccer match and NBC for “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” with CW sixth with a 0.6 for a repeat of “One Tree Hill.”
 
At 10 p.m. CBS took the lead with a 3.2 for “CSI: NY,” with NBC second with a 2.9 for “Law & Order.” Univision was third with a 2.2 for more soccer coverage and ABC fourth with a 2.0 for “Mafia.”
 
Fox was also first for the night among households, finishing with a 12.1 average overnight rating and a 19 share. CBS was second at 6.2/10, NBC third at 5.9/9, ABC fourth at 4.4/7, Univision fifth at 2.2/4 and CW sixth at 1.1/2.
