Sunday night the queen of daytime delivered big ratings for ABC. Last night it was the Queen of England.

The two-hour special “20/20: The Royal Family” averaged a 3.7 adults 18-49 rating from 9 to 11 p.m., according to Nielsen overnights, easily winning its timeslot and boosting ABC to a tie for first on the evening.

It was the night's top-rated show among adults 18-49 and also drew the most total viewers, 14.2 million. That marked the best audience for "20/20" since the 2003 Michael Jackson special.

“Royal” peaked with a 3.8 in its final hour, 0.5 ahead of No. 2 Fox with the second half of the season finale of “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.”

Specials on the royal family have performed well in the past, with an NBC one focused on the British princes drawing strong ratings last summer. This “20/20” special, filmed with the cooperation of the royal family and anchored by Barbara Walters, highlighted the queen, her son and grandsons, and it came after a great deal of media attention to Prince Harry’s recent deployment to Afghanistan.

ABC also finished first on Sunday night, boosted by the premiere of Oprah Winfrey's "Oprah's Big Give."

Meanwhile, ABC and Fox tied for first for the night among viewers 18-49, each with a 3.1 average overnight rating and an 8 share. Usual Monday leader NBC was third at 2.8/7, CBS fourth at 2.6/7, Univision fifth at 1.6/4 and CW sixth at 0.7/2.

At 8 p.m. ABC was first with a 3.6 for the first half of “Family” special, followed by Fox with a 3.0 for the first hour of “Connor.” NBC was third with a 2.4 for “My Dad is Better than Your Dad,” Univision fourth with a 2.1 for “Al Diablo con los Guapos,” CBS fifth with a 2.0 average for a repeat of “How I Met Your Mother” and the finale of “Welcome to the Captain” (1.8) and CW sixth with a 0.6 for a “Gossip Girl” rerun.

ABC was first again at 9 p.m. with a 3.8 for the second hour of “Family,” while Fox remained second with a 3.3 for the last half of “Connor.” NBC was third with a 3.1 for “Deal or No Deal,” CBS fourth with a 3.0 average for a repeat of “Two and a Half Men” and a new “The New Adventures of Old Christine” (2.8), Univision fifth with a 1.5 for “Pasion” and CW sixth with a 0.8 for “The Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious.”

NBC took the lead at 10 p.m. with a 3.0 for “Medium,” with CBS second with a 2.6 for a repeat of “CSI: Miami.” ABC was third with a 1.9 for “October Road” and Univision fourth with a 1.3 for “Cristina.”

Among households, ABC led the night with a 7.7 average overnight rating and a 12 share. NBC was second at 5.7/9, CBS third at 5.4/9, Fox fourth at 4.9/7, Univision fifth at 2.0/3 and CW sixth at 1.2/2.
