Power outage
delays overnight ratings

And a host of other data too at Nielsen

Nov 18, 2009

The power outage that zapped the Nielsen data center in Oldsmar, Fla., also short-circuited all the ratings releases slated for yesterday.

Monday's overnights, as well as weekly broadcast, cable and syndication data for the week ended Nov. 15, were delayed by the blackout.

Nielsen sent out a note around 9 a.m. yesterday informing clients of the problem and potential delays. By late afternoon it became apparent that no data would be released.

"Data collection and crediting for data of Monday, November 16, 2009 continue to process," said a note from the company. "We continue to have residual effects from the power outage that occurred earlier today."

Nielsen is slated to send out an update by 9 a.m. this morning.
