Sports continue to draw strong ratings on otherwise slow Saturday night.

A week after CBS drew its best ratings for a regular-season college football game in two decades, both ABC and Fox posted strong numbers with college football and mixed martial arts.

ABC's Stanford-Oregon game boosted the network to No. 1 on the night with a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating and 7 share in primetime, according to Nielsen overnights.

Ratings for the game will likely change a bit when final numbers come out tomorrow, as overnights do not account for time zone differences and include only the portion of the game played from 8 to 11 p.m.; it went a bit past 11.

But clearly there was interest in the contest. It was up 39 percent over "Saturday Night Football's" season-to-date average of 1.8.

Fox also saw solid results from its first-ever primetime Ultimate Fighting Championship bout, despite the fact that the actual fight lasted barely a minute.

The network averaged a 2.4 for the 9 p.m. contest, second to ABC in the slot and well above its usual Saturday night average of 1.8.

That boosted Fox to second place for the night with a 2.1/6. CBS was third with a 1.0/3, NBC and Univision tied for fourth at 0.6/2, and Telemundo was sixth at 0.3/1.

ABC led every hour, starting with a 2.4 at 8 p.m. for its first hour of football. Fox was second with a 1.8 for "Cops," followed by CBS in third with a 0.6 for CBS News' Republican presidential debate. Univision's "Sabado Gigante" and NBC's Notre Dame-Maryland tied for fourth with a 0.6 apiece, followed by Telemundo in sixth with a 0.3.

ABC led again at 9 p.m. with a 2.5, just beating Fox's UFC coverage with a 2.4. CBS's "NCIS" repeat finished third with a 0.9. Univision was fourth with a 0.6 for "Sabado," NBC's football game was fifth with a 0.5, and Telemundo was sixth with a 0.3.

At 10 p.m. ABC extended its lead with a 2.7 for Stanford-Oregon. CBS's "48 Hours Mystery" took second with a 1.1, followed by "Sabado" on Univision with a 0.7. The end of NBC's Notre Dame-Maryland game took fourth with a 0.6, and Telemundo was fifth with a 0.4.

ABC also led the night among households with a 4.5/8. CBS was second at 3.6/6, Fox third at 2.7/5, Univision and NBC tied for fourth at 1.2/2, and Telemundo sixth at 0.3/1.
