With a big lead-in from "American Idol," Fox led all networks for President Barack Obama's 90-minute State of the Union address last night, the first of the president's tenure.

The Big Four networks combined to average 30.2 million total viewers from 9 to 10:30 p.m. for the speech, according to Nielsen overnights, with nearly a third of those watching Fox.

As a reminder, these are very rough numbers. Overnights measure actual timeslot data, not program data, and they do not account for time zone differences.

Nielsen will release an exact tally later today that will also include other broadcast and cable networks that carried the speech.

Some 24.7 million viewers watched "Idol" at 8 p.m., and just over a third of them stuck around for Obama's speech, with Fox averaging 9.4 million viewers.

ABC averaged 7.5 million, with NBC third at 7.2 million and CBS fourth at 6.1 million.

Univision, which also aired the speech, averaged 3.25 million.

Fox was first for the night among adults 18-49 with a 6.4 average overnight rating and a 17 share. ABC was second at 1.8/5, NBC third at 1.5/4, CBS fourth at 1.4/4, Univision fifth at 1.2/3 and CW sixth at 0.5/1.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Thirty-four percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

At 8 p.m. Fox was first with a 9.1 for “American Idol,” followed by ABC with a 1.7 for repeats of “Modern Family” and “The Middle.” CBS was third with a 1.4 for repeats of “The New Adventures of Old Christine” and “Gary Unmarried,” Univision fourth with a 1.3 for “Hasta que el Dinero Nos Separe,” NBC fifth with a 1.1 for a “Mercy” rerun and CW sixth with a 0.3 for a repeat of “Gossip Girl.”

Fox was first at 9 p.m. with a 3.6, with ABC at 2.2, NBC at 1.8, CBS at 1.5 and Univision at 1.3, all for Obama. CW was sixth with a 0.6 for a repeat of “Life Unexpected.”

At 10 p.m. NBC and ABC tied for first at 1.6, NBC for more State of the Union coverage and ABC for Obama and a repeat of “Cougar Town.” CBS was third with a 1.3 for Obama and a repeat of “Two and a Half Men” and Univision fourth with a 1.0 for Obama and “Don Francisco Presenta.”

Fox also led the night among households with a 9.6 average overnight rating and a 15 share. ABC was second at 3.9/6, NBC third at 3.7/6, CBS fourth at 3.6/6, Univision fifth at 1.7/3 and CW sixth at 0.8/1.
