With two supersized episodes of its unscripted hits, NBC continues to be the network to beat on Monday.
NBC averaged a 4.0 adults 18-49 rating last night, according to Nielsen overnights, 18 percent ahead of second-place Fox at a 3.4.
The network has had the steadiest Monday schedule for weeks now, winning five straight even with the other networks airing new or partially new episodes despite the writers’ strike.
The penultimate episode of “American Gladiators” led off with a 3.7 rating for a 90-minute episode at 8 p.m., down 12 percent from its season-to-date 4.2 average but still solidly in the lead every half hour. The show’s first-season finale airs Sunday.
“Deal or No Deal” finished off the night starting at 9:30 and also won every half hour, finishing with a 4.2 rating.
Meanwhile, CBS’s original comedies “Welcome to the Captain” and “The New Adventures of Old Christine” were about even to last week’s debuts, while ABC’s 90-minute “Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann” tied a season low with a 2.4 rating.
NBC was first for the night among viewers 18-49 with a 4.0 average overnight rating and a 10 share. Fox was second at 3.4/8, CBS third at 2.9/7, ABC fourth at 2.0/5, Univision fifth at 1.8/5 and CW sixth at 0.6/2.
At 8 p.m. NBC led with a 3.5 for “Gladiators,” followed by Fox with a 3.3 for “Prison Break,” tying a season best. CBS was third with a 2.7 average for a repeat of “How I Met Your Mother” and a new “Captain” (2.6), ABC fourth with a 2.4 for “Dance,” Univision fifth with a 2.2 for “Al Diablo con los Guapos” and CW sixth with a 0.4 for a “Gossip Girl” rerun.
NBC was first again at 9 p.m. with a 3.9 for the last half hour of “Gladiators” and the first 30 minutes of “Deal.” CBS was second with a 3.6 for a repeat of “Two and a Half Men” and a new “Christine” (3.3), Fox third with a 3.5 for “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” ABC fourth with a 2.0 for the end of “Dance” and an episode of “Notes from the Underbelly” (1.4), Univision fifth with a 1.8 for “Pasion” and CW sixth with a 0.8 for an hour of “Girlfriends.”
At 10 p.m. NBC was first again with a 4.5 for its final hour of “Deal,” with CBS second with a 2.5 for a repeat of “CSI: Miami.” ABC was third with a 1.6 for “October Road” and Univision fourth with a 1.4 for “Cristina.”
NBC also led the night among households, averaging a 6.5 overnight rating and a 10 share. CBS was second at 5.8/9, Fox third at 5.0/8, ABC fourth at 4.6/7, Univision fifth at 2.1/3 and CW sixth at 1.1/2.
