holds grip on the gold Variety show averages a 2.7 in adults 18-49 Aug 28, 2008 Coming off a dominant Olympics, NBC still has a good deal of momentum. The network won its third-straight post-Games primetime last night on the strength of the Wednesday premiere of hit show “America’s Got Talent.” “Talent” averaged a 2.7 adults 18-49 rating from 8 to 10 p.m., according to Nielsen overnights, easily the night’s top show. It delivered the network’s best non-Olympic results in the time period since January. Of course, during much of that span “American Idol” dominated at least some of the timeslot, which hasn’t been strong for NBC for quite some time. But last night the network thoroughly thumped the competition. “Talent” finished 59 percent ahead of the No. 2 shows in the slot, on CBS and Fox, and its rating jumped 23 percent from its first to its fourth half-hour, from a 2.3 to a 3.0. The network has now won every night since the Olympics, starting Monday with a victory fueled by the season premiere of “Deal or No Deal” and continuing Tuesday with “Talent’s” return after a two-week Olympic layoff. NBC finished first for the night among viewers 18-49 with a 2.3 average overnight rating and a 7 share. Fox was second at 1.8/5, Univision third at 1.7/5, CBS fourth at 1.4/4, ABC fifth at 1.1/3 and CW sixth at 0.6/2.
