To whet viewers’ appetites for tonight’s fourth-season premiere of “Lost,” ABC reran last May’s season three ender with a few added enhancements last night, and it looks like there was plenty of hunger for it.
The two-hour episode averaged a solid 3.3 adults 18-49 rating, according to Nielsen overnights, finishing second behind Fox’s new reality show “Moment of Truth” during its first hour at 9 p.m. and taking first in its final hour.
The episode aired with an on-screen written pop-up commentary giving background and other relevant information on the finale for those who’d either forgotten their “Lost” lore over the last eight months or had not seen the show before.
“Lost” averaged a 3.3 in its first hour and rose slightly to a 3.4 in its second, 10 percent ahead of second-place “Law & Order” on NBC.
The season premiere of the show is tonight at 9 p.m., but it will be preceded by another hour-long recap of the previous season.
Also last night, the second episode of “Truth” averaged another strong rating, though it slipped 24 percent from last week’s huge premiere. “Truth” averaged a 7.8 rating, off from a 10.2 overnight last week and holding 79 percent of lead-in “American Idol’s” audience.
