For the penultimate competition show this season, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" twirled to its best numbers since its premiere, though it remains down compared to last year.

"Dancing" averaged a 3.9 adults 18-49 rating Monday airing from 8 to 10 p.m., according to Nielsen overnights. The ratings, which had been delayed nearly 24 hours due to a power outage at a Nielsen data center, came out this morning.

Four couples competed in the semifinals, and three remain for next week's finals.

"Dancing" was up 12 percent over the previous week's 3.4 rating, and it marked the show's second-highest rating this season, behind September's premiere episode. "Dancing" also boosted ABC to its best Monday among total viewers since May, with a season-high 18.7 million watching the show and 16.1 million tuning in to the network on the night.

Still, the show remains down compared to last season, when it averaged a 4.3 rating and 19.6 million viewers for the penultimate competition episode.
