Fox wins Monday
with CBS on its tail

Averages a 4.3 in 18-49s, boosted by 'House'

Fox maintained its week-one lead in adults 18-49 on the second Monday of the season last night, but it may not keep it for long, not if "The Big Bang Theory" keeps growing.

On the strength of "House," the night's No. 1 show among adults 18-49, Fox finished just ahead of CBS.

Fox averaged a 4.3 18-49 rating and 11 share, according to Nielsen overnights, to CBS's 4.1/11.

"House" dominated the 8 p.m. hour with a 5.7 rating, a point down from last week's two-hour season premiere but still 63 percent ahead of the No. 2 network in the hour, ABC.

But the second-season premiere of "Lie to Me" at 9 p.m. lost a huge chunk of "House's" lead-in, 49 percent, dragging down Fox's average for the evening.

"Lie" was actually up 12 percent over last May's finale, but the network had hoped that giving it a huge lead-in would goose the show's numbers even more.

"Lie" had the misfortune of facing what may be the season's hottest show, "Bang," which set a series high for the second straight week and also outdrew lead-in "Two and a Half Men" for the second straight week.

"Bang" averaged a 5.1 at 9:30 p.m., up 9 percent over last week's 4.7 and No. 2 for the night. Last week's premiere faced a two-hour episode of "House," so the growth may have come from viewers switching over from Fox this week.

In series premieres last night, the 9 p.m. "Trauma" averaged a 2.3, losing 8 percent of lead-in "Heroes'" rating.

For the night, ABC placed third at 3.2/8, NBC fourth at 2.2/6, Univision fifth at 1.7/4 and CW sixth at 1.2/3.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Thirty-two percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

At 8 p.m. Fox led with the 5.7 for “House,” followed by ABC with a 3.5 for “Dancing with the Stars.” CBS was third with a 3.3 for “How I Met Your Mother” (3.6, down just 6 percent from last week's series premiere) and “Accidentally on Purpose” (3.1), NBC fourth with a 2.5 for “Heroes,” Univision fifth with a 1.5 for “El Nombre del Amor” and CW sixth with a 1.2 for “One Tree Hill.”

CBS took the lead at 9 p.m. with a 4.9 for “Men” (4.7) and “Bang” (5.1), while ABC remained second with a 3.8 for more “Stars.” Fox was third with a 2.9 for “Lie to Me,” NBC fourth with a 2.3 for “Trauma,” Univision fifth with a 2.2 for “Mañana Es para Siempre” and CW sixth with a 1.2 for “Gossip Girl.”

CBS was first again at 10 p.m. with a 4.1 for “CSI: Miami,” with ABC second with a 2.3 for “Castle.” NBC was third with a 1.8 for “The Jay Leno Show” and Univision fourth with a 1.3 for “Cristina.”

ABC led the night among households with a 9.4 average overnight rating and a 15 share. CBS was second at 7.4/11, Fox third at 6.6/10, NBC fourth at 3.9/6, Univision fifth at 2.1/3 and CW sixth at 1.6/2.
