With the other Big Four broadcast networks mostly in reruns last night, Fox got an easy victory, even with "American Idol" sinking from last week.

Fox averaged a 4.5 adults 18-49 rating and 14 share, according to Nielsen overnights, more than double No. 2 NBC's average on the night.

"Idol" did not benefit from the lack of competition. The show averaged a 6.6 rating, down 12 percent from the previous week's 7.5 and the show's second-lowest rating of the season, behind a 6.4 against the Olympics last month.

"Idol" was still by far the night's highest-rated show, but it was well off the show's 9.0 season-to-date average.

"Idol" was just the latest show to see numbers take a big dip this week, with daylight savings time beginning over the weekend. Only a handful of programs have managed to stay even week to week, much less grow, as viewers spend more time outside instead of in front of their televisions.

The CW's "America's Next Top Model" was the rare show to buck that trend. "Model" was up slightly week to week among both 18-49s and the network's target women 18-34, winning the 8 to 9 p.m. timeslot in the latter and lifting the CW to a rare fourth-place nightly finish in 18-49s.

Among 18-49s for the night, NBC was second at 1.8/6, CBS third at 1.7/5, CW fourth at 1.4/4, and Univision and ABC tied for fifth at 1.3/4.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Thirty-six percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

At 8 p.m. Fox was first with a 2.3 for “Human Target,” while CBS and CW tied for second at 1.6, CBS for a repeat of “The New Adventures of Old Christine” and the season finale of “Gary Unmarried” (season-low 1.8) and CW for the first hour of “Model.” Univision was fourth with a 1.5 for “Hasta que el Dinero Nos Separe,” NBC fifth with a 1.4 for “Mercy” and ABC sixth with a 1.3 for “Scrubs” (1.2) and a repeat of “The Middle.”

Fox extended its lead at 9 p.m. with a 6.6 for “Idol,” followed by CBS with a 1.8 for a repeat of “Criminal Minds.” ABC was third with a 1.6 for repeats of “Modern Family” and “Cougar Town.” Univision and NBC tied for fourth at 1.2, Univision for “Corazon Salvaje” and NBC for a repeat of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” and CW was sixth with a 1.1 for the end of “Model” (1.7) and an episode of “High Society” (0.5).

NBC took the lead at 10 p.m. with a 2.8 for a new “L&O: SVU,” followed by CBS with a 1.6 for a “CSI: NY” rerun. Univision was third with a 1.2 for “Don Francisco Presenta” and ABC fourth with a series-low 1.0 for “Ugly Betty.”

Fox also finished first for the night among households with an 8.2 average overnight rating and a 14 share. CBS was second at 4.5/8, NBC third at 4.4/8, ABC fourth at 2.6/4, CW fifth at 2.1/4 and Univision sixth at 1.8/3.
