Airing opposite mostly repeats, Fox's Thursday combination of "Bones" and "Fringe" soared to season highs last night.

The duo combined for a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating and 9 share from 8 to 10 p.m., according to Nielsen overnights, easily placing first for the night and nearly double the No. 2 networks, CBS and Univision.

"Bones" averaged a season-high 3.6 at 8 p.m. In fact it was the fifth-year drama's best rating since November 2007. The show also drew its highest total viewers average, 12.4 million, in three years.

Lead-out "Fringe" hit a season-high 3.0 18-49 rating at 9 p.m., clearly benefiting from the lack of original competition in the hour. "Fringe" usually gains a fairly high percentage of viewers from DVR playback, airing opposite ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," CBS's "CSI" and NBC's "The Office," all very strong shows.

With all of them in repeats, "Fringe" dominated the hour, finishing 1.0 ahead of CBS's "CSI" repeat and giving the bubble show a slight boost in its case for a third season.

Fox is seeing much better results on Thursdays this year generally. Season to date the "Bones"/"Fringe" combo is up 25 percent over last year's Thursday average.

Meanwhile, for the night among 18-49s, CBS and Univision tied for second at 1.8/5, while ABC, NBC and CW all tied for fourth at 1.5/4.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Thirty-four percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

At 8 p.m. Fox was first with a 3.6 for “Bones,” followed by CW with a 1.8 for “The Vampire Diaries,” up 13 percent from last week. ABC was third with a 1.7 for “The Deep End,” NBC fourth with a 1.6 for repeats of “Community” and “Parks and Recreation,” Univision fifth with a 1.4 for “Hasta que el Dinero Nos Separe” and CBS sixth with a 1.1 for the special “Live For the Moment.”

Fox was first again at 9 p.m. with a 3.0 for “Fringe,” while Univision moved to second with a 2.1 for “Sortilegio.” CBS was third with a 2.0 for a “CSI” rerun, NBC fourth with a 1.9 for repeats of “Office” and “30 Rock,” ABC fifth with a 1.5 for a repeat of “Grey’s” and CW sixth with a 1.2 for “Supernatural.”

CBS took the lead at 10 p.m. with a 2.3 for a repeat of “The Mentalist,” with Univision second with a 1.9 for “Mujeres Asesinas 2.” ABC and NBC tied for third at 1.2, ABC for a “Private Practice” rerun and NBC for “The Jay Leno Show.”

Fox was also first for the night among households with a 6.2 average overnight rating and a 10 share. CBS was second at 5.3/9, ABC third at 3.6/6, NBC fourth at 2.7/4, and Univision and CW tied for fifth at 2.1/3.
