Aug 6, 2007

Fox has gained buzz recently over the success of “The Simpsons Movie,” but last night it was another of the network’s animated shows that led it to a first-place finish for the night among viewers 18-49.

Two hours of “Family Guy” reruns averaged a 2.8 overnight rating from 8-10 p.m., including two episodes during the 9 p.m. hour that each posted a 3.1 in the demo.

Those two episodes tied for the highest-rated shows for the night among 18-49s.

The two hours of “Family Guy” propelled Fox to a 2.2 average 18-49 rating for the night, good for first place and up 16 percent versus the 1.9 overnight rating the network had averaged over the previous three Sundays.

Elsewhere, CBS’s “Big Brother” posted a 2.7 overnight rating in its 8 p.m. timeslot, the reality show’s highest Sunday night rating of the summer. The show also averaged 8.02 million total viewers, No. 2 for the night behind the 8.70 million viewers who tuned in to “60 Minutes” at 7 p.m.
