"American Idol's" ratings may be starting to level off.

For the first time this season the singing show did not see a week-to-week decline, finishing flat to the prior week in its fourth Wednesday outing.

"Idol" averaged a 6.0 adults 18-49 rating, according to Nielsen overnights, even to last week's 6.0 and finishing as the night's top show, just ahead of ABC's "Modern Family" at 5.5.

"Idol" rose 11 percent from its first to its second half hour, going from a 5.7 at 8 p.m. to a 6.3 at 8:30.

It's a welcome sign for Fox, which has seen its top-rated show slide 9 percent or more the previous two weeks.

But the show is still well down from the same night last year, when it averaged an 8.4.

And in the observation everyone is bound to make, "Idol" is not the No. 1 show on TV this week: Monday's "The Voice" averaged a 6.7 on NBC.

Fox finished first for the night easily on the strength of "Idol," 45 percent ahead of second-place ABC.

Fox averaged a 4.5 overnight rating and a 12 share in primetime. ABC was second at 3.1/8, CBS third at 2.4/6, NBC fourth at 1.6/4, Univision fifth at 1.5/4, and CW and Telemundo tied for sixth at 0.5/1.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback, which includes shows replayed before 3 a.m. the night before. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Forty-three percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

At 8 p.m. Fox was first with a 6.0 for "Idol," followed by ABC with a 2.6 for "The Middle" (2.6) and "Suburgatory" (2.5). Univision was third with a 1.6 for "Una Familia con Suerte," NBC fourth with a 1.5 for "Whitney" (1.5) and "Are You There, Chelsea?" (1.5), CBS fifth with a 1.1 for "Person to Person," CW sixth with a 0.7 for "One Tree Hill" and Telemundo seventh with a 0.6 for "Una Maid en Manhattan."

ABC took the lead at 9 p.m. with a 4.2 for "Modern Family" (5.5, up 8 percent over its most recent episode) and "Happy Endings" (3.0), while CBS moved to second with a 3.4 for "Criminal Minds." Fox was third with a 3.0 for "Mobbed," Univision fourth with a 1.4 for "El Talisman," NBC fifth with a 1.1 for "Rock Center with Brian Williams," Telemundo sixth with a 0.6 for "Flor Salvaje" and CW seventh with a 0.4 for "Remodeled."

At 10 p.m. CBS was first with a 2.7 for "CSI," with ABC second with a 2.5 for "Revenge." NBC was third with a 2.2 for "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Univision fourth with a 1.5 for "La Que No Podia Amar" and Telemundo fifth with a 0.4 for "Relaciones Peligrosas."

Fox also finished first for the night among households with a 7.9 average overnight rating and a 12 share. CBS was second at 6.6/10, ABC third at 5.2/8, NBC fourth at 3.6/6, Univision fifth at 1.9/3, and CW and Telemundo tied for sixth at 0.7/1.
