On a night that was dominated by the end of the Denver Broncos-Pittsburgh Steelers NFL playoff game, ABC’s new fairytale drama “Once Upon a Time” delivered its best rating in weeks.

“Time” bucked up to a 3.7 adults 18-49 rating in the 8 p.m. timeslot, according to Nielsen overnights, the show’s top outing since averaging a 3.8 on Nov. 13 and 28 percent better than the show’s last original episode on Dec. 11.

It’s possible “Time” picked up some new viewers from last Sunday’s four-episode marathon, or people who usually DVR the show may have tuned in live for its first new episode of the new year.

“Time” was the top scripted series of the night on broadcast, though not the top show overall. That honor went to what will apparently be a hugely rated Broncos-Steelers matchup.

The final hour of the contest, which went into overtime, drew an incredible 41.9 million total viewers at 7 p.m. and a 14.8 18-49 rating.

As a reminder, ratings for live programming such as football are subject to adjustment when final numbers are released, because overnights do not account for time zone differences or timeslot overruns.

Also last night, the series premiere of NBC’s new drama “The Firm” fizzled, drawing a mere 1.4 from 9 to 11 p.m.

CBS was first for the night among 18-49s with a 7.1 average overnight rating and a 17 share. ABC was second at 2.3/6, Fox third at 1.9/4, NBC fourth at 1.3/3, Univision fifth at 1.1/3 and Telemundo sixth at 0.4/1.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback, which includes shows replayed before 3 a.m. the night before. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Forty-three percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

At 7 p.m. CBS was first with a 14.8 for football, followed by ABC with a 1.4 for "America's Funniest Home Videos." NBC and Univision tied for third at 0.9, NBC for "Dateline" and Univision for "Rosa de Guadalupe," with Fox fifth with a 0.8 for repeats of "Bob's Burgers" and "The Cleveland Show" and Telemundo sixth with a 0.3 for "Pa'lante con Cristina."

CBS finished first again at 8 p.m. with the end of football and start of "60 Minutes," while ABC remained second with a 3.7 for "Time." Fox was third with a 2.2 for "The Simpsons" (2.3) and "The Cleveland Show" (2.1), NBC fourth with a 1.5 for more "Dateline," Univision fifth with a 1.3 for "Gran Show de los Peques" and Telemundo sixth with a 0.3 for more "Cristina."

At 9 p.m. ABC and CBS tied for the lead at 3.0, ABC for "Desperate Housewives" and CBS for "Minutes" and the start of "The Good Wife." Fox was third with a 2.6 for "Family Guy" (3.0) and "American Dad" (2.1), NBC fourth with a 1.5 for "Firm," Univision fifth with a 1.4 for more "Gran Show" and Telemundo sixth with a 0.4 for the movie "Beverly Hills Chihuahua."

CBS regained sole possession of first place at 10 p.m. with a 2.7 for "Good Wife" and "CSI: Miami," with ABC and NBC tied for second at 1.3, ABC for "Pan Am" and NBC for more "Firm." Univision was fourth with a 0.9 for "Sal y Pimienta" and Telemundo fifth with a 0.5 for its movie.

Among households, CBS led the night with a 13.2 average overnight rating and a 20 share. ABC was second at 4.4/7, NBC third at 4.1/6, Fox fourth at 2.3/3, Univision fifth at 1.6/2 and Telemundo sixth at 0.5/1.
