Fox prevailed over Univision in another relatively slow Thursday night on broadcast on the strength of a rising “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Fox averaged a 2.2 adults 18-49 rating and 7 share, according to Nielsen overnights, just ahead of Univision’s 2.0/6.

“Dance” was the night’s top-rated show, averaging a 2.9 at 9 p.m., up 16 percent over last week, when it averaged a 2.5. Part of the bump was likely due to a special appearance by Katie Holmes.

It marked the second straight night that “Dance” saw an uptick in ratings, with Wednesday’s show rising 7 percent, to a 2.8.

The night’s No. 2 show, Univision’s “Mañana Es para Siempre,” also aired at 9 p.m., averaging a 2.3.

CBS placed third for the night at 1.9/6, NBC fourth at 1.1/4, ABC fifth at 0.8/2 and CW sixth at 0.5/2.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Thirty-two percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

At 8 p.m. CBS led with a 2.0 for “Big Brother,” followed by Univision with a 1.8 for “El Nombre del Amor.” Fox was third with a 1.4 for a “Bones” repeat, NBC fourth with a 1.1 for repeats of “30 Rock” and “The Office,” ABC fifth with a 0.9 for an hour of “Samantha Who?” and CW sixth with a 0.5 for a repeat of “Smallville.”

Fox took the lead at 9 p.m. with a 2.9 for “Dance,” while Univision remained second with a 2.3 for “Siempre.” CBS was third with a 1.6 for a repeat of “CSI,” NBC fourth with a 1.2 for more “Office” and “30 Rock” repeats, ABC fifth with a 0.8 for a “Grey’s Anatomy” rerun and CW sixth with a 0.4 for a repeat of “Supernatural.”

At 10 p.m. CBS led with a 2.0 for a repeat of “The Mentalist,” with Univision second with a 1.9 for the first hour of a Gold Cup soccer match between Mexico and Costa Rica. NBC was third with a 0.9 for “The Listener” and ABC fourth with a 0.6 for a repeat of “Private Practice.”

Among households, CBS was first for the night with a 5.0 average overnight rating and a 9 share. Fox was second at 4.3/8, Univision third at 2.3/4, NBC and ABC tied for fourth at 2.1/4 and CW sixth at 0.9/2.
