Monday nights are looking very competitive again now that the networks have their midseason schedules in place, but it was once again CBS that prevailed against the competition.

CBS averaged a 4.2 adults 18-49 rating and 11 share, according to Nielsen overnights, with Fox second at 3.7/9. ABC placed third with a 3.3/9, with NBC fourth at 2.1/5, Univision fifth at 1.5/4 and CW sixth at 0.4/1.

"The Big Bang Theory" paced CBS with a strong 5.7 rating at 9:30 p.m., once again the night's top-rated program.

CBS also had the night's No. 2 show, "Bang" lead-in "Two and a Half Men," which averaged a 5.4, up 4 percent over its most original outing before star Charlie Sheen's latest brush with the law.

"House" was the third-highest-rated show of the night, at 4.6, just ahead of CBS's competing "How I Met Your Mother" with its much-hyped 100th episode. That averaged a 3.9 at 8 p.m., up 5 percent from its most recent original outing.

It wasn't the only show to grow. ABC's "The Bachelor" jumped a solid 9 percent from last week's premiere, averaging a 3.6 from 8 to 10 p.m.

And NBC's "Chuck," while down 10 percent from Sunday night's debut, which averaged a 2.9, was NBC's highest-rated show of the evening, averaging a 2.6, though still fourth in its timeslot.

That was the program's best Monday rating since February of last year (though that sounds more impressive than it really is; "Chuck" has been off the air since April).

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Thirty-four percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

At 8 p.m. Fox led with a 4.6 for “House,” followed by CBS with a 3.5 for “Mother” (3.9) and “Accidentally on Purpose” (3.2). ABC was third with a 3.3 for “Bachelor,” NBC fourth with a 2.6 for “Chuck,” Univision fifth with a 1.4 for “En Nombre del Amor” and CW sixth with a 0.4 for a repeat of “One Tree Hill.”

CBS took the lead at 9 p.m. with a 5.5 for “Men” (5.4) and “Bang” (5.7), while ABC moved to second with a 4.0 for more “Bachelor.” Fox was third with a 2.8 a special episode of "Fringe," NBC fourth with a 2.1 for “Heroes,” Univision fifth with a 1.8 for “Sortilegio” and CW sixth with a 0.3 for a repeat of “Gossip Girl.”

At 10 p.m. CBS was first with a 3.7 for “CSI: Miami,” with ABC second with a 2.6 for “Castle.” NBC was third with a 1.6 for “The Jay Leno Show” and Univision fourth with a 1.2 for “Cristina.”

Among households, CBS also led the night with an 8.0 average overnight rating and a 13 share. ABC was second at 6.8/11, Fox third at 6.0/9, NBC fourth at 3.4/5, Univision fifth at 2.0/3 and CW sixth at 0.7/1.
