CBS bounced to an easy victory last night with third-round coverage of the NCAA men's basketball tournament, including top-seeded Syracuse's surprising loss to fifth-seeded Butler.

CBS averaged a 3.8 adults 18-49 rating and 11 share, according to Nielsen overnights, up slightly over last week's 3.7/11 for first-round coverage.

As a reminder, these ratings are approximate as fast nationals measure timeslot and not actual program data, and they also do not account for time zone differences.

CBS was 36 percent ahead of second-place ABC, which averaged a 2.8/8 as "FlashForward" and "Grey's Anatomy" slipped to series lows.

"FlashForward" was down 0.1 from last week's return after a three-month hiatus, to a 1.8 rating. "Grey's" averaged a 3.6, which was still the top-rated non-basketball show of the night.

CBS was first for the night among 18-49s with a 3.8 average overnight rating and an 11 share. ABC was second at 2.8/8, NBC third at 2.6/7, CW fourth at 1.4/4 and Fox and Univision tied for fifth at 1.3/4.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Thirty-six percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

CBS led each hour, beginning with a 3.6 at 8 p.m. for basketball, with NBC second with a 2.0 for “Community” (2.0) and “Parks and Recreation” (1.9). ABC and Univision tied for third at 1.8, ABC for “FlashForward” and Univision for “Hasta que el Dinero Nos Separe,” with Fox and CW tied for fifth at 1.5, Fox for a repeat of “Bones” and CW for “The Vampire Diaries.”

At 9 p.m. CBS was first with a 4.0 for basketball, followed by ABC with a 3.6 for “Grey’s.” NBC was third with a 3.2 for “The Office” (3.5) and “30 Rock” (2.9). Univision and CW tied for fourth at 1.2, Univision for “Corazon Salvaje” and CW for “Supernatural,” and Fox was sixth with a 1.1 for a “Fringe” rerun.

CBS was first again at 10 p.m. with a 3.9 for more basketball, while ABC remained second with a 2.9 for “Private Practice.” NBC was third with a 2.5 for a repeat of “The Marriage Ref” and Univision fourth with a 0.8 for “Vidas Cruzadas.”

Among households, CBS also led the night with a 6.9 average overnight rating and a 12 share. ABC was second at 5.8/10, NBC third at 3.8/6, Fox fourth at 3.2/5, CW fifth at 1.8/3 and Univision sixth at 1.7/3.
