Without NFL overrun pushing their starting times back, CBS's long-struggling dramas "Three Rivers" and "Cold Case" rebounded from last week's low ratings.

In fact, "Rivers" hit a season high with a 2.1 adults 18-49 rating at 9 p.m., according to Nielsen overnights, up 11 percent over last week. That's not a great rating, but it should help the show stay on the air at least a few more weeks, despite being one of the lowest-rated new programs of the season.

Lead-out "Cold Case" averaged a 2.1 rating at 10 p.m., up 24 percent from last week, when its start time was delayed 20 minutes. The long-running drama averaged a 1.7 rating last week, a series low.

The higher numbers came despite airing opposite a highly rated "Sunday Night Football" game between the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots that was decided in the final minute.

That led NBC to an easy victory last night with a 6.0 average overnight rating and a 15 share. Fox was second at 4.6/12, ABC third at 3.5/9, CBS fourth at 2.3/6 and Univision fifth at 0.8/2.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Thirty-three percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

Also, ratings for Fox’s football overrun and NBC’s “SNF” are approximate as fast nationals measure timeslot and not actual program data.

At 7 p.m. Fox was first with a 6.5 for football overrun and “The OT,” followed by NBC with a 2.6 for "Football Night in America." ABC and CBS tied for third at 2.2, ABC for “America’s Funniest Home Videos” and CBS for “60 Minutes,” with Univision fifth with a 0.8 for “Maria de Todos los Angeles.”

NBC took the lead at 8 p.m. with a 6.7 for football pregame and the start of “SNF,” while Fox slipped to second with a 3.8 for “The Simpsons” (4.2) and “The Cleveland Show” (3.3). ABC was third with a 3.6 for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” CBS fourth with a 3.2 for “The Amazing Race” and Univision fifth with a 0.8 for the first hour of “Viva el Sueño.”

At 9 p.m. NBC was first with a 7.7 for more football, with ABC second with a 4.9 for “Desperate Housewives,” up 11 percent over last week. Fox was third with a 3.5 for “Family Guy” (4.1) and “American Dad” (2.9), CBS fourth with a 2.0 for “Three Rivers” and Univision fifth with a 0.9 for more “Sueño.”

NBC was first again at 10 p.m. with a 5.9 for football, followed by ABC with a 3.2 for “Brothers & Sisters.” CBS was third with a 2.1 for “Cold” and Univision fourth with a 0.7 for “Quien Tiene la Razon?”

NBC also led the night among households with a 10.0 average overnight rating and a 16 share. ABC was second at 6.7/11, CBS third at 6.5/1, Fox fourth at 6.4/10 and Univision fifth at 1.2/2.
