for Fox's new drama 'The Finder'

"The Finder" may have a future after all.

The "Bones" spinoff that premiered to very low numbers two weeks ago climbed by double-digit percentages for the second straight week airing behind "American Idol."

"Finder" averaged a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating at 9 p.m. last night, according to Nielsen, up 32 percent over the previous week's 2.2 and well above the 1.7 the show posted in its premiere two weeks ago.

That's a credit to "Idol," which gave the show a substantial lead-in the past two weeks, and also the lack of competition on broadcast last night. ABC and CBS aired repeats in the hour and only one of NBC's comedies was original.

"Idol" was down from last week's premiere but not by much, 4 percent, to 5.4 at 8 p.m. It finished significantly behind CBS's "The Big Bang Theory" in their shared half hour at 8 p.m., averaging a 4.8 to "Bang's" 5.4.

"Bang" may be the most successful regularly scheduled program ever against "Idol." It was up 4 percent over last week, when it tied "Idol" in its half hour.

Elsewhere, CBS's "Rob" remained steady in week three, averaging a solid 3.5 at 8:30 p.m., when "Idol's" rating jumped to a 6.0.

Fox led the night among 18-49s with a 4.1 average overnight rating and an 11 share. CBS was second at 2.8/7, Univision third at 1.6/4, NBC fourth at 1.4/4, ABC fifth at 1.2/3, Telemundo sixth at 0.7/2 and CW seventh at 0.5/1.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback, which includes shows replayed before 3 a.m. the night before. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Forty-three percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

At 8 p.m. Fox was first with a 5.4 for "Idol," followed by CBS with a 4.4 for "Bang" (5.4) and "Rob" (3.5). Univision was third with a 1.8 for "Una Familia con Suerte," NBC fourth with a 1.6 for "30 Rock" (1.6) and "Parks and Recreation" (1.7), ABC fifth with a 1.5 for a repeat of "Wipeout," Telemundo sixth with a 0.8 for "Una Maid en Manhattan" and CW seventh with a 0.5 for the movie "The Covenant."

Fox held onto first at 9 p.m. with a 2.9 for "Finder," while CBS remained second with a 2.1 for a repeat of "Person of Interest." Univision was third with a 1.8 for "La Que No Podia Amar," NBC fourth with a 1.7 for an original "30 Rock" (1.9) and a repeat of "Up All Night" (1.4), ABC fifth with a 1.3 for a repeat of "Grey's Anatomy," Telemundo sixth with a 0.6 for "Flor Salvaje" and CW seventh with a 0.5 for its movie.

CBS took the lead at 10 p.m. with a 1.9 for a repeat of "The Mentalist," with Univision second with a 1.2 for "Dale con Ganas." NBC was third with a 1.0 for "The Firm," ABC fourth with a 0.9 for a "Private Practice" rerun and Telemundo fifth with a 0.6 for "Relaciones Peligrosas."

Fox also finished first for the night among households with a 7.8 average overnight rating and a 12 share. CBS was second at 7.0/11, ABC third at 2.5/4, NBC fourth at 2.4/4, Univision fifth at 1.8/3, CW sixth at 0.9/1 and Telemundo seventh at 0.8/1.
