Even against the Olympics, ABC's "The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love" continued to post strong numbers last night.
"Bachelor" averaged a 4.0 adults 18-49 rating from 8 to 10 p.m., according to Nielsen overnights, equaling its season average despite very strong numbers from NBC's Olympic Games, which were once again up compared to the same night four years ago.
"Bachelor" averaged 11.5 million total viewers, 300,000 more than its season average, while NBC averaged 26 million during the same two-hour slot.
"Bachelor" was the night's top non-sports show and continued Sunday night's trend of reality faring well against the Winter Games. CBS's new hit show "Undercover Boss" drew strong numbers that night.
"Bachelor" may have been helped by the lack of original competition on CBS, which was in reruns, and Fox, which aired a repeat of "House" at 8 p.m. before an original "24."
With just a few weeks before the season ends, "Bachelor" is on pace for its best edition among 18-49s since 2004.
NBC was first for the night among 18-49s with a 7.2 average overnight rating and an 18 share, up 9 percent from Turin in 2006. ABC was second at 3.2/8, CBS third at 2.6/6, Fox fourth at 2.5/6, Univision fifth at 1.5/4 and CW sixth at 0.9/2.
As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Thirty-four percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.
Also, ratings for NBC’s Olympics are approximate as fast nationals measure timeslot and not actual program data.
NBC led each hour, beginning with a 7.3 at 8 p.m. for the Olympics. ABC was second with a 3.8 for “Bachelor,” Fox third with a 2.2 for a repeat of “House,” CBS fourth with a 2.1 for repeats of “How I Met Your Mother” and “Accidentally On Purpose,” Univision fifth with a 1.5 for “Hasta que el Dinero Nos Separe” and CW sixth with a 0.9 for “One Tree Hill.”
At 9 p.m. NBC was first with a 7.3 for more Olympics, followed by ABC with a 4.3 for the second half of “Bachelor.” CBS was third with a 3.4 for repeats of “Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory,” Fox fourth with a 2.7 for “24,” Univision fifth with a 1.9 for “Sortilegio” and CW sixth with a 0.9 for “Life Unexpected.”
NBC was first again at 10 p.m. with a 7.0 for the Olympics, with CBS second with a 2.3 for a “CSI: Miami” rerun. ABC was third with a 1.5 for a repeat of “Castle” and Univision fourth with a 1.1 for “Cristina.”
NBC also led the night among households with a 14.4 average overnight rating and a 22 share. ABC was second at 6.1/9, CBS third at 5.2/8, Fox fourth at 4.6/7, Univision fifth at 2.0/3 and CW sixth at 1.2/2.
