Fox took an easy victory last night thanks to the dominating return of "House" after a one-week absence.

Meanwhile, the lack of original programming on CBS boosted ABC, which hit a new Monday high for the second straight week, into second place with both of its shows setting new season highs.

"The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love" averaged a 3.9 adults 18-49 rating from 8 to 10 p.m., according to Nielsen overnights, up 0.1 from last week and beating "24" by 1.0 at 9 p.m.

"Castle" showed an even bigger week-to-week boost, airing against a repeat of CBS's "CSI: Miami," up 11 percent over last week's season-high 2.8 to a series-high 3.1.

The lack of competition clearly helped both programs. CBS was down 46 percent in the 8 p.m. hour and 26 percent at 9 p.m. versus last week.

Fox's "24" held up in week two, though it did not seem to benefit from the lack of CBS originals. It averaged a solid 3.3, down from last week's 3.4 for a two-hour episode.

"House" was the night's top program with a 5.2 at 8 p.m., up 13 percent from its most recent episode two weeks ago.

Fox was first for the night among 18-49s with a 4.3 average overnight rating and an 11 share. ABC was second at 3.6/9, CBS third at 2.8/7, NBC fourth at 1.9/5, Univision fifth at 1.5/4 and CW sixth at 1.0/3.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Thirty-four percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

At 8 p.m. Fox led with a 5.2 for “House,” followed by ABC with a 3.6 for “Bachelor.” NBC was third with a 2.5 for “Chuck” (flat to last week), CBS fourth with a 2.0 for repeats of “How I Met Your Mother” and “Accidentally on Purpose,” Univision fifth with a 1.4 for “Hasta que el Dinero Nos Separe” and CW sixth with a 1.1 for “One Tree Hill.”

ABC took the lead at 9 p.m. with a 4.3 for more “Bachelor,” while CBS moved to second with a 3.9 for repeats of “Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory.” Fox was third with a 3.3 for “24,” and NBC and Univision tied for fourth at 1.9, NBC for “Heroes” and Univision for “Sortilegio.”

The CW was sixth with a 1.0 for “Life Unexpected,” which fell 24 percent among the network's target women 18-34, from a 2.5 for last week's debut to a 1.9 last night. It remains to be seen how much of that dip will be made up by time-shifted viewing, something the CW audience is more prone to.

At 10 p.m. ABC was first again with a 3.1 for “Castle,” with CBS second with a 2.6 for a “CSI: Miami” rerun. NBC and Univision tied for third that hour at 1.2, NBC for “The Jay Leno Show” and Univision for “Cristina.”

Fox also led the night among households with a 7.4 average overnight rating and an 11 share, followed closely by ABC at 7.3/11. CBS was third at 5.9/9, NBC fourth at 3.2/5, Univision fifth at 1.9/3 and CW sixth at 1.4/2.
