"American Idol" slid again last night, though it was still by far the top show on broadcast.

"Idol" averaged a 5.9 adults 18-49 rating at 8 p.m., according to Nielsen, down 9 percent from the previous week's 6.5.

The show averaged 18.2 million total viewers, and it was still easily the No. 1 program of the night on both counts on an evening littered with reruns.

Though they didn't have great ratings, two of "Idol's" 8 p.m. competitors did see substantial growth from the previous week. NBC's sitcoms "Whitney" and "Are You There, Chelsea" were both up 21 percent, to a 1.7 18-49 rating apiece.

And CBS's "Super Bowl's Greatest Commercials" also saw growth versus last year in the 8 p.m. slot opposite "Idol," improving by 5 percent over last year, when it aired on a Friday, to a 2.1 rating.

Fox led the night among 18-49s with a 4.4 average overnight rating and a 12 share. CBS was second at 1.9/5, ABC, NBC and Univision tied for third at 1.5/4, and CW and Telemundo tied for sixth at 0.5/1.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback, which includes shows replayed before 3 a.m. the night before. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Forty-three percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

Fox was first at 8 p.m. with a 5.9 for "Idol," followed by CBS with a 2.1 for "Commercials." NBC was third with a 1.7 for "Whitney" (1.7) and "Chelsea?" (1.7), ABC fourth with a 1.2 for repeats of "The Middle" and "Suburgatory," Univision fifth with a 1.1 for "El Talisman," CW sixth with a 0.7 for "One Tree Hill" and Telemundo seventh with a 0.6 for "Una Maid en Manhattan."

At 9 p.m. Fox was first again with a 2.9 for "Mobbed," while ABC moved to second with a 2.3 for repeats of "Modern Family" (2.7) and "Happy Endings" (1.9). CBS was third with a 2.1 for a repeat of "Criminal Minds," Univision fourth with a 1.8 for "La Que No Podia Amar," NBC fifth with a 1.1 for a repeat of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Telemundo sixth with a 0.5 for "Flor Salvaje" and CW seventh with a 0.3 for "Remodeled."

NBC led at 10 p.m. with a 1.6 for another "SVU" rerun, with CBS second with a 1.5 for a repeat of "CSI." Univision was third with a 1.4 for "Dale con Ganas," ABC fourth with a 0.9 for a repeat of "Revenge" and Telemundo fifth with a 0.4 for "Relaciones Peligrosas."

Among households, Fox was first for the night with a 7.5 average overnight rating and a 12 share. CBS was second at 5.2/8, NBC third at 3.3/5, ABC fourth at 3.1/5, Univision fifth at 1.8/3, CW sixth at 0.8/1 and Telemundo seventh at 0.7/1.
