Unlike Portfolio, Portfolio.com will live on.
Condé Nast said yesterday that the site for the now-defunct business title, which launched two years ago, will be placed under the management of the American City Business Journals, an Advance Publications property that operates the regional bizjournals.com sites.
The move comes just weeks after Condé Nast shut down Portfolio, a business magazine that debuted just before the recession began to sink magazine ad pages.
Former Portfolio.com managing editor Josh Moss will oversee the site, whose offices will be based in New York, though at a different location than they were previously. The editorial staff will number five to start.
The site will continue to share stories with other Condé Nast sites, including Wired.com, GolfDigest.com, and WWD.com, and it will retain the Portfolio archives.
According to a release detailing the new structure yesterday, Portfolio.com will examine local business developments from a national perspective.
Portfolio.com had 2.8 million unique users by the time its parent magazine shut down. The site has continued to operate, though its staff was slashed significantly last year, before the magazine closed.
