Sports TV: 2011 spending
rose 5.9 percent, to nearly $11 billion

Last year may have been a sluggish one for the media economy overall, struggling through yet another down year, but it was a very healthy year for one area of media, sports TV.

Ad spending on sports TV rose by 5.9 percent in 2011, four times the pace of the media economy, according to a new report from Nielsen.

That healthy pace speaks to both . . . .
