'Kourtney & Kim Take New York' returns to strong ratings

Kim Kardashian is a train wreck that viewers simply can't turn away from.

Weeks after the reality starlet ended her brief 72-day marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries, a lavish wedding that was chronicled on E!, her latest TV show returned to stronger ratings as the curious tuned in to see how her fairytale romance went wrong.

Season two of "Kourtney & Kim Take New York," a spinoff of "Keeping up with the Kardashians," averaged 3.2 million total viewers Sunday at 10 p.m. on E!, according to Nielsen, up 6 percent over the season one premiere.

The show did best among younger viewers, drawing 2.3 million adults 18-49, up 8 percent over the first season, and 1.7 million women 18-49, up 10 percent.

"K & K" more than doubled E!'s average in the timeslot among total viewers over the previous four weeks.

The rise in viewership is perhaps a slight surprise, considering the backlash against the Kardashians when Kim announced her divorce earlier this month.

Many people were disgusted by what they viewed as a publicity stunt and swore they would no longer watch any of the three Kardashian-focused shows on E!.

The couple continues to claim their romance was real and not a stunt, despite the whirlwind courtship that culminated with their wedding in August. The event was taped by E! cameras and aired as a two-hour special in October that drew 2.7 million 18-49s.

In addition to being paid millions for the E! rights, Kardashian and Humphries also sold their wedding and honeymoon shots to the tabloids for thousands more.

But less than three months later, Kardashian filed for divorce, pleading for understanding from fans for rushing into a marriage that she simply wasn't ready for.

Many fans, noting that Kardashian and Humphries raked in $8 million for the rights to their nuptials, were turned off by the whole affair.

"At this point everything she does is a publicity stunt," wrote one person who billed herself as a "former Kim fan" on Huffington Post.
