Tarantino brings
pulp fiction to 'CSI'

Gory director wrote and directed tonight's finale

Sometimes Quentin Tarantino has too much creativity.
After making a movie so long it had to be split into two volumes ("Kill Bill"), Tarantino makes his "CSI" debut with tonight's 8 p.m. season finale. The original script called for an hour-long episode, but the "Reservoir Dogs" director stretched it into a two-hour event. Not that CBS, which could use the sweeps boost among adults 18-49, is complaining.
Tarantino has reportedly seen every episode of "CSI," and his known interest in the show led to a phone call from lead actor William Peterson. The filmmaker agreed to direct the finale and started working with the show's writers on tonight's script, which has investigator Nick Stokes buried alive.
The director's work is never short on gore and violence, and it sounds like his touch on "CSI" will be no different--all within broadcast TV's decency standards, of course.
Tonight's finale also features a cliffhanger, with continued rumors that one of the main gang will be killed off. Quite bloodily, we'll bet.
